European drug prevention quality standards (EDPQS) Toolkit 4: adaptation and dissemination

Summary

This is one of four toolkit,s developed as part of a follow-up project to the European drug prevention quality standards.

The European Drug Prevention Quality Standards Toolkit 4 is for people who would like to raise the quality of preventive work by strategically promoting the use of quality standards in their own country (or region, municipality) or in their own professional context (e.g. a particular setting).

Toolkit 4 is of particular value if you wish to:

• Find out about effective methods and ways to promote the use of quality standards
• Translate and/or adapt the EDPQS and related materials
• Develop new (or revise existing) quality standards (including funding criteria) using the EDPQS

EDPQS Toolkit 4 aims to help to promote quality standards in drug prevention. It offers a structured, step-by-step approach to translating, adapting and disseminating the EDPQS (see Steps 1-4 documents). The toolkit was developed for use with the EDPQS, but many recommendations will also be relevant for the adaptation and dissemination of other quality standards.
This toolkit helps to:

• Plan adaptation/dissemination (including translation) of the EDPQS in a systematic way from start to finish
• Make informed decisions rather than have lengthy discussions about what to do
• Correctly estimate the resources (time, money, people) required
• Foresee and address potential difficulties in advance
• Apply for funding to translate, adapt and/or disseminate the EDPQS
