First EMCDDA Georgian stakeholder meeting

On 18 and 19 March, the EMCDDA4GE project and the Georgian National Drug Observatory (NDO) will jointly organise the first EMCDDA Georgian stakeholder meeting in the region of Kakheti. This event will gather the main actors in the field of drug monitoring, prevention and treatment in the country to reinforce collaboration and discuss challenges faced in the area of drug monitoring.

The meeting follows on from last year’s Workshop on drug monitoring and reporting. The event will bring together representatives from the: NDO, EMCDDA4GE project core team, Alternative Georgia, Ilia State University, Samkharauli Forensic Bureau, National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, other state agencies and NGOs.

During technical sessions, the participants will reflect on the state of play regarding drug-related data collection, monitoring and reporting in Georgia and discuss the national drug strategy 2023–2030 and latest action plan. Specific sessions will be dedicated to the Georgian indicators on treatment demand and drug-related deaths.

Launched in May 2021, EMCDDA4GE is the first bilateral project between the EMCDDA and Georgia. It aims to enhance national responses to drug-related health and security threats and to familiarise Georgian partners with the EU drug information system and its methodologies and tools. The project focuses primarily on knowledge transfer and capacity-building in the areas of drug monitoring, reporting, prevention and treatment.
