Summary
At its December 2004 meeting, the European Council adopted the EU drugs strategy 2005–12, covering an 8-year period. Two consecutive 4-year action plans were subsequently adopted: the EU drugs action plan 2005–08 and the EU drugs action plan 2009–12. Action 72 of the EU drugs action plan 2009–12 would request the European Commission to undertake an external, independent assessment of the implementation of the EU drugs strategy 2005–12 and its action plans (the subject of this page).
