Methodological pilot study of local level prevalence estimates

Introduction

This report presents the findings from an EMCDDA-funded methodological pilot study of local level prevalence estimates. Following on from a joint EMCDDA/Pompidou Group meeting, comparative pilot studies to improve the prevalence estimation at local and national levels were initiated. A methodology, commonly known as capture-recapture, was used at the local level and the aim of the study was to compare and contrast the application of the methodology across several cities (Dublin, Helsinki, Rome Setúbal, Rotterdam, Toulouse and Vienna).
